*LISTEN, SEND, TELL*

June 14, 2003, Creative Time and Harvestworks are co-hosting the New York site of *Listen, Send, Tell* : a live online collaborative intervention of word/image surges triggered by sound, by Isabelle Jenniches (in New York) and Michelle Teran (in Rotterdam), with Radiotopia (in Vienna)

*Listen, Send, Tell* frames the V2 Publication Book Launch: "Making Art of Databases" based on the "Interfacing Realities" master classes. This series of four international seminars focussing on the language and culture of archives and databases in the work of electronic media artists was a two-year collaborative project between V2_ and ZKM (D), Ars Electronica (A) and C3 (H). During those masterclasses, Michelle Teran and Isabelle Jenniches developed the cyclic system applied in *Listen, Send, Tell* for the collaborative performance Interfacing/ Radiotopia/ Keyworx.

Michelle Teran

Michelle Teran uses live media in performances and installations that address issues such as social networks, intimacy over distance, presence and the interplay between (media) spaces. She uses video from [public] webcams, streams, wireless cameras in live situations and likes to work with different combinations of hardware, software, every day ephemeral materials and public spaces. Teran is interested in the slippery junctions where spaces converge, in the dialogue between physical, virtual and middle spaces. Her work as an artist and facilitator covers live installations, lectures, online performances and connected events, temporary lab spaces, telepresence, live art and video. Teran has presented in North America, Europe, Japan and in virtual space. She is currently artist-in-residence at Waag Society for Old and New Media in Amsterdam.

Isabelle Jenniches

Staying true to her forefathers' nomadic lifestyle, Isabelle Jenniches lives and works worldwide. Coming to New York from Amsterdam, she is a frequent player at SHARE, a weekly open audio and video jam at 'Open Air Bar' and currently exhibits in the group show of artists in residence at Location One. In her work, which often evolves out of close collaborations with others, Isabelle exploits the social and emotional impact of new forms of mediated communication in theatrical situations, using, for example, telepresent characters. In solitary as well as shared realtime telecasting and streaming media events she draws upon such low tech sources as the ubiquitous public webcam, and her ongoing compulsive collections of found footage from the Internet.

Isabelle Jenniches and Michelle Teran have collaborated in online performances since 2000 and most recently during DEAF 03 Data Knitting, the Dutch Electronic Art Festival 2003, where they developed *LISTEN, SEND, TELL*

Radiotopia

The idea of a landscape, of the layout of a city, played a major role in conceptualizing the multi-layered, situational and decentralized character of the Radiotopia sound/network project. Behind every sound is an idea, a world of words and definitions. The one big experience within Radiotopia is the peaceful confrontation of all the world's sounds, audio artists, concepts, sights and sometimes ideologies. The presentation will make connections between project inherent concepts, their correlating sound-language and the disregard toward this material; simply the creation of sounds and networks for the sake of the audio landscapes it produces.
